Hi Nick,

I wasn't aware of the Little Hans article--thanks for sending that! I attended a psychoanalytic conference a couple of years ago in which one of the speakers (Jerry Wakefield) presented compelling evidence that Freud had willfully omitted aspects of the case because they did not support his view of the Oedipus complex. I didn't attend this particular conference, but here he is presenting the same conjectures at another conference on youtube:

I don't know if you're familiar with Wakefield's work, but it would be interesting to hear what you think, or to hear from others what they think, about these conjectures as well as the implications for using exclusively clinical evidence to develop theory.

Helpful to see the papers that have already been circulated on this topic. I
think the range indicates that 'single case study' covers a variety of
methodologies, from narrative case report through to various types of
qualitative, quantitative and experimental designs.

I'm attaching a conceptual paper I wrote about case study research a while
back, plus a couple of examples of case studies, using rather different
methodologies.

I know that some colleagues in Essex have been involved with creating a
single case study database as well - perhaps one of them will be able to
share some details?

Best wishes,

Nick

Hi Yvonne
I am attaching an article summarising my doctoral research on parental loss
in adolescence using a single case study.
Best wishes

Hi Yvonne,

Single-case research is a very large field of study. I've attached four
single-case studies from my lab. Perhaps others can send Yvonne (and the
rest of us) their own articles that might highlight different approaches?

Dear CaFTR Community

I wonder if you could help me to find some good examples of single case
study research at doctoral level. Any suggestions would be much
appreciated.

Thank you
