Dear Orya
I have been using the PRFQ (Luyten) in its Hebrew version in an ongoing
study. Our first sample of 120 mothers and children in a " normal
population" showed that maternal pre-mentalizing states together wit her
level of anger predicted child reported anxiety and and sadness. Still
unpublished/

Hi Orya,

our preliminary results on the effectiveness of a short psychodynamic
parent-infant psychotherapy vs. TAU for parents of infants with early
regulatory disorders revealed a sign. change in prementalizing modes, which
is one scale of the PRFQ (Luyten).
While the instrument is wonderful resource-wise, I find the two other scales
critically, both, regarding content and empirically. Anyway, if in
combination with a performance based RF Instrument, you might get a
differentiated view of different aspects of the RF construct.

All the best from Germany
Anna

Hi Orya,

Ozlem Bekar (ozlembekar@gmail.com) at the New School here in New York has
developed the mental state talk coding system, which our lab has used to
code the Attachment Story-Completion Task (ASCT) in 3-5 year-old children.
We tested a mediational model that showed that the relationship between
caregiver social support and mental state talk as measured in children's
ASCT stories is mediated by children's mental representations of caregiver
punishment and discipline in a sample of Ugandan children.

Dear Orya

If you have enough resources it would be ideal to use the Child Attachment
Interview and code it for either attachment or reflective functioning (or
both!). I think RF this is the best way to rate object relations as it is
closely linked to mentalizing about self and others, and with RF you get a
score for mentalizing about self and others. This is why the Kernberg group
uses RF as one of their main measures.

If you want to rate RF let me know back channel.

Jessica Borelli and myself have also developed with Peter Fonagy and
Arietta Slade a short interview (Mini- Parental RF Interview) with good
reliability compared to standard measures of parental RF.

Best
Karin

Hi all
I am consulting to several outpatient units in Jerusalem, who would like to
do outcome studies of psychodynamic therapy with children. What are good
measures to assess emotional change, or change in object relations with kids
?

Also - someone asked me for the parent reflective functioning
questionnaire. Does anyone have access to it, or experience with it ?

thanks
Orya Tishby
