RE: proposed consultation service Edginton Elizabeth (LEEDS AND YORK PARTNERSHIP NHS FOUNDATION TRUST) 29 Oct 2015 09:37 CET

This is a great idea, Geoff - for individuals and teams, research projects and dissertations.

If funds are limited (which they usually are !), I'd go for research projects first, and I guess if it was also for dissertation projects, then it might be an idea to ensure the supervisor gets some sort of copy of the advice given, but the more advice for people who have an idea but are not sure how to take it forward, the better.

Best wishes,

Elizabeth

Dr. Elizabeth Edginton

Subject: CaFTR proposed consultation service

Greetings:

The CaFTR Steering Committee wants to know your thoughts about a possible
new development that we are considering.

The SPR have invited us to put together a proposal to set up a consultation
service, to support people developing research proposals in child/family
therapy. The idea is that we would be asking SPR for funds to pay
consultants to work with CaFTR members who need help with their projects.

First of all, it would be helpful to know whether members of the CaFTR
e-forum would find such a service helpful?

If so, we are wondering whether the funds should be earmarked for
dissertation consultation, grant application consultation, or both. We are
also wondering whether these consultations should be face to face (scheduled
during a pre-SPR workshop annually), or whether consultations should be
online and take place year-round (i.e. people would book in a skype or phone
consultation individually). Webinars are another option, as a possible
forum in which to dispense this consultation.

Finally, we are wondering whether these consultations should be available to
individuals, research teams, or both.

If you just want to let me know whether you would be likely to use such a
service, please email me BACK-CHANNEL - i.e. direct to my personal email. If
you have thoughts or other ideas about the proposal more generally, feel
free to share your ideas here on the listserv.

If anyone has the time and energy to be involved in helping to take this project
forward, please contact me. Thank you.

Geoff
