Conference Theme: Personalizing psychotherapy to its participants and moments In 2018, Norcross and Wampold summarized available evidence on how to tailor each treatment to the individual patient and his/her particular situation under the succinct heading “a new therapy for each patient". By choosing the theme for the SPR 2020 conference, “Personalizing psychotherapy to its participants and moments,” we would like to encourage participants to further explore ways of tailoring treatments by their research. This does not need to be limited to tailoring to the unique patient, but also to the unique human being the therapist is, as well as to moment-by-moment change processes. For example, sexual orientation and gender have been identified as important patient characteristics having received too little research attention, so far. Also, advanced methods of capturing the complex interactions between participants’ characteristics, therapeutic interventions, and process characteristics can be worth exploring. The deadline for submissions is December 15--there will be no extension. We are looking forward to your many valuable submissions!
