I am a child and adolescent psychotherapist working at The Mulberry Bush School near Oxford UK, a residential setting for traumatised 5-13 year olds.
My research is looking at how the perceptions that parents and carers have of their children, change during the first year in the school. Alongside the adult interviews, I would like to do a narrative analysis of some of the children’s story stems (we use the story stem assessment profile on all new children), however I’m still working out how to do it. One idea I had was to look at whether the coherence of their narrative changes over time. This is not explicitly coded for using the story stem profile but I understand it is in the child attachment interview (CAI). I have not done the CAI training, nor the adult attachment training, but wondered a) whether there is anything written which gives any actual detail about this aspect of the CAI coding or b) if anyone has done a narrative analysis of the stories?
Many thanks
