Dear colleagues,
I hope you are keeping safe and well.
This is a reminder that the UCL/AFC Masters programmes still have spaces for some further research projects to offer students. This can include ideas for new projects (including Covid-19 ones), secondary research questions on existing data, as well as systematic reviews.
I would be more than happy to discuss any potential ideas that you have, and help you shape them if that would be helpful.
Each student is allocated an internal supervisor from postgraduate studies to oversee the project, and mark all work submitted by the student. Benefits for yourselves include having an individual which can help with the recruitment of participants and answer additional questions on strands of work you may be undertaking. For evaluations of existing data, students can also help with data entry, input, coding and transcribing. Further information is available below.
Please do not hesitate to contact us and we look forward to hearing from you
Best wishes,
Daniel
Dear Colleagues,
We hope you are keeping safe and well during this turbulent time.
In preparation for the incoming UCL MSc cohorts, we are looking for new MSc projects to offer to students in September 2020. We are open to exploring any ideas you have with us at this stage and can help you hone and refine any potential research questions. Where possible, given the uncertainties around COVID-19, we would like to work with staff to make sure projects where data collection is needed could be translated online. However, projects where this is not possible will not be excluded. Secondary data analysis is also welcomed, as are systematic reviews.
There are many benefits for yourselves from offering a project, including: help with the recruitment of participants, and additional evaluation strands/questions for the programmes/projects you oversee. For evaluations of existing data, students can help with data entry, input, coding and transcribing.
Projects can be flexible in terms of timing, and have the option of being split over one or two years depending on your preferences and project scope. Students are required to start with projects in October 2020, and are required to hand in their dissertation the corresponding summer for the length of the project.
To reduce burden on staff offering projects, an internal supervisor from postgraduate studies will be allocated to oversee the project, and mark all work submitted by the student. You, as a collaborator, may be asked occasionally to attend project meetings with supervisors and the student in order to ensure good communication and the ongoing success of the project.
We would be happy to chat about this if you have time. Alternatively, if you prefer, you can float any ideas via email.
Best wishes,
Daniel Hayes and Tanya Lecchi
